Fee and Levy Policy

While Lumen Christi receives funding from both State and Federal governments, this is insufficient to meet our needs. The School Advisory Board set fees and levies annually to meet this shortfall. It becomes a matter of justice to the other parents and students that all families should meet their commitments. On enrolment of their child, it is expected that parents acknowledge and agree to meet the fees and levies.

Fees are charged to cover costs such as insurance, cleaning, furniture and equipment, building and grounds maintenance, loan repayments, telephone, electricity and gas. Fees are charged on a per family basis. LEVIES A curriculum levy is charged for each child. This covers the costs of materials used to implement the teaching and learning program. This can include sports equipment, art materials, library resources, stationery and photocopying.

Accounts are prepared and submitted each term, to pay proportionate amounts of the annual fees and levies. Children who enroll during the school year will be charged fees and levies on a pro-rata basis. In cases of extreme hardship fees or levies may be reduced. This will be at the discretion of the Principal and Parish Priest, after discussions with the family. PAYMENT Fees and levies are due for payment in 4 instalments, one per term. Term 1 Curriculum levy due Terms 2-4 School fees due in 3 equal instalments Direct debit facilities are made available to parents.

Accounts not paid by the due date will be considered overdue. A reminder letter will be sent by the Principal, requesting payment or discussion of the circumstances where financial hardship exists. If no response is received a follow up phone call will be made. In the event of the account still remaining overdue and no attempt being made to discuss this with the Parish Priest or Principal, the matter will be passed onto a debt collection agency. Notification that this has occurred will be made to the Catholic Education Office, and the family involved. Parents with outstanding debts will be required to pay for camps and excursions in advance of these activities.

Lumen Christi wishes to thank and acknowledge the majority of families who always contribute to the cost of educating their child.
