When a student is detected as having head lice, parents will be notified, asked to collect their child/ren and to treat their child/ren. Students are not to return to school with live lice which is in accordance with the Department of Educations Infectious Disease policy. Students who only have eggs are permitted to return to school if they have commenced treatment.
When treating head lice please be mindful that to successfully treat and eradicate head lice, hair needs to be treated and combed for a minimum of 10 days to allow for the eggs to hatch. All linen needs to be washed as lice can live off the human head for up to 7 days.
