Our Catholic School
Lumen Christi offers the richness of Catholic Education and tradition to the growing child in an environment where its example is the centre of all learning. Lumen Christi’s School community should experience and promote the gospel values of love, empathy, trust, respect, honesty and fairness.
We aim to develop the whole child spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually.
Many parents in our community, who are not Catholic, have told us that it is important that we let you know what is expected of you in a Catholic school.
We ask that you support our Christian ethos, that you are aware that we will teach your children to pray every day, and that we will attend Mass at our parish church regularly. On these occasions you are always welcome to attend, but are not under any obligation to do so. At various times those children at Lumen Christi who are baptised Catholic, will receive instruction in the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation, and your child will take part in these lessons. They will not receive these Sacraments, but they are most welcome to take part in the ceremony which usually takes place in the evenings or on a Sunday.
Religious Education lessons are part of our week, and we use a resource called “To Live in Christ Jesus”. The content of our Religious Education program focuses, in the early years, on the person of Jesus and the gospel values that we promote across all aspects of school life – fairness, honesty, care and compassion. As a community we commit to building of ‘Kingdom of God’ here at Lumen Christi.
